About Kavin
I know what it feels like to enter from outside.
I moved from India to Singapore and grew up inside the local school system. My family had to learn the routes, the culture, and the expectations as we went.
From expat child to parent guide
This is lived experience, not a promise that every child will have the same path.
I sat the PSLE, studied at Victoria School, completed O-Levels with 2 points, and later attended Raffles Institution.
I learned that entering the system is only one problem. Families also need to understand school culture, pace, friendships, subjects, co-curricular activities, and the choices that arrive later. My own family had to work all of that out from the inside, without a guide, and I remember what that felt like from the child's side of the desk.
MKB Academy exists to make that journey less confusing for expat parents. I explain the system in simple English, separate official facts from personal judgment, and help families see what to do next.
The journey in five steps
1. Moved to Singapore. I came from India and entered the local school system as an expat child.
2. Sat the PSLE. My family had to understand a system we did not grow up with.
3. Victoria School. I learned the pace, routines, friendships, and expectations from inside the system.
4. O-Levels, 2 points. I completed the national examination route before moving on to Raffles Institution.
5. MKB Academy. I now turn that lived experience into clearer guidance for expat families, including free guides on local school admission, the P1 Indication of Interest, and AEIS preparation.
How I work with families
Honest limits. No one outside MOE or the school can guarantee admission. I will tell you what is within your control and what is not.
Simple language. I explain the route without making you learn every acronym first. Phase 3, IOI, AEIS, S-AEIS, CEQ: each one gets explained in plain words when it matters, not recited as jargon.
The full journey. We look at admission, adjustment, and what comes next. A place in a good school is the start of the work, not the end of it, and the families who plan for all three parts make calmer decisions than the ones who only plan for entry.
